A few days has passed since the Malmo concert, but still the music is in my head, and I,m feeling goooood!

Yes, Forty One years ago, Blind Faith played together live about a half dozen times. Then, after Steve, Derek Trucks, and E.C. tore it up at the Crossroads Festival, two years ago, they rejoined to play at Madison Square Garden, about two months before Eric joined the Allmans for their final annual ten-day show at the Beacon Theatre (the venue was purchased by Circe Ole, Allman's will have to find a new venue for subsequent Easter week shows, to continue their 21 year tradition).
I saw Steve play with Tom Petty in late June, 2008, in Omaha, Nebraska (superb). Then, in late June, 2009, I saw Steve play live with Eric Clapton, in Omaha, Nebraska (unspeakably superb). This July 3, I hope to see Steve play with Carlos Santana, in Sioux City, Iowa.....for free. Yes, one week after the Crossroads Festival (this summer) Steve & Carlos are headlining a free twelve-hour concert, in Sioux City, Ia. It is the 20th annual 'free' Independece Day weekend festival at Grand View City Park, in Sioux City. I've only made 20% of those 20 shows, but I've seen the Neville Brothers, B.B. King, Albert King, Buddy Guy, Los Lobos, Susan Tedeschi, and the Allman Brothers Band at this show, in various years, lying on a blanket, enjoying the weather, and waiting for the fireworks, just in the last 20 years. The acts usually limit themselves to 90 minutes, because they try to fit in eight acts on the main stage that day. But what a wonderful day. If you thought free concerts of this calibre were just stories from the past, try to make it to Sioux City (if not this year, than the first weekend in July, sometime soon.

Steve Winwood and Eric Clapton was in their proper element, as the two veterans delivered a dewy refinement of the old repertoire in front of a sold out Malmo Arena Monday evening.
Time passes, and even Eric Clapton may have trouble remembering how many years it has been since he played with Steve Winwood in the supergroup Blind Faith. Of course coming recipe quickly from the floor: 41 '. Yes, you feel as not outside of belonging to the dinosaurs, which weigh heavily among the 11,500 people who have arrived in the sold-out Malmo Arena. Yes, as so often before, there is a clear reflection between floor and stage.
And no one may well be dissatisfied with that reflected in two British musicians, the 65-year-old guitarist and singer Eric Clapton and the 62-year-old singer, organist and guitarist Steve Winwood. For they can then just their stuff, and obviously enjoy giving the old repertoire and the old sound a dewy trimming. They start with Steve Winwood Blind Faith classic "Had To Cry Today 'in which the author finds that the beautiful voice is intact, and when Eric Clapton also plays wire on the way there in the dawn of time did Eric Clapton to just Eric Clapton . And he can still turn the saturated blue tones, so it is much more than a delight.
Profound beautiful
Sekundanterne - with the masterful but never show embossed, drummer Steve Gadd in the center - works perfectly, and in more than two hour show will also Steve Winwood demonstrated his rich skills as a guitarist and organist, and - as said - singer. Yes, his interpretation of "Georgia On My Mind 'is profound beauty and a fine paper for a longer muted scenario in which the two protagonists both sings and plays acoustic guitar, and how Eric Clapton delivers bluesstrengeleg in the deep Southern tradition - and while so very equal here-and-now-creationism.
Altogether minted concert of the good old open form of rock music, where there is room to solo pursuits, and the sound varied program will be rounded up with Steve Winwood old masterpiece "Dear Mr. Fantasy" - with the two guitarists in a unique tour de force. Great!
Bit from a Swedish review - (not sure if the translation is correct)
It is a meeting that despite the age sparkle with joy of playing and genuine love for music and the audience. The few words between the numbers should not put too many in, because they will probably not benefit the two men violently. They let the music speak for itself.It should not hide that I had initially thought mainly focusing on Clapton in concert, something that would prove to be quite impossible. Steve Winwood came close to stealing the entire show with his soulful voice. When he J.J. Cales classic "Low Down" sings that he can only give it to blues'en when he hears just her name, so it feels completely natural. He uses real opportunity at present only concert in Scandinavia to display all his records. He moves without the slightest vacillation between organ, piano and lead guitar completely out of edge of the stage and dominate everything and everyone on stage - without in any way to detect the slightest weakening age!
Two hours in heaven!
The minute Steve and Eric entered the stage last night, a beautiful, warm and relaxed atmosphere spread and they held us spellbound for two hours.
I red somewhere that Steve is not too fond of touring - last night he could have fooled me - he looked as if he truly enjoyed playing for us - and my - he did well. He sang and played the piano, the B3, the electric guitar and the acoustic guitar with such enthusiasm, emotion and charm - I have never quiet experience anything like it (not even MSG08). The way Steve accompanies Eric and visa versa - it is simply amazing.
Although the Malmø Arena is a big concert hall, it felt rather intimate. We were there for the music, and simply enjoyed the privilege of seeing and hearing those two great personalities. The sound and light were perfect from my place. The back of the stage was one big screen. We could hear all the lyrics, and Steve’s voices came through loud and clear with such emotion and power - you won’t believe it. What a great blues singer he is - also.
Very nice to attend a concert where the audience was really enjoying the music from The Dynamic Duo. Usually there will be some noise and talking in such a big place - but not last night - we were listening, applauding and in between exceptionally quiet - I believe we could have heard a needle fall when we heard he first tune of Georgia .
All songs were highlights, but Georgia keeps popping up in my head - wow - and Glad, and Voodoo Chile, While you see a chance - Midland Maniac (I did not know this song - it was beautiful), While you see a chance, and the rest of the set. I wish it could have lasted all night.
Forgive me for talking mostly about Steve’s performance - but he was outstanding in every way.
Well things haven’t really settled yet - just returned from Sweden this afternoon.
